Sharon McDonnell, Physician Epidemiologist & photographer
I am board certified in preventive medicine and public health and completed the Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) fellowship program at the US CDC (class of 93). I worked with WHO in Emergency Response and later HIV/AIDS. I have been teaching Epidemiology and Global health with Dartmouth Medical (Geisel) School and the University of New Hampshire. From 2014-2016 I worked with an amazing team in Monrovia Liberia responding to the Ebola outbreak. Much of my focus has been in international public health surveillance systems with the Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response Program (IDSR). Currently I am a consulting epidemiologist with the Maine Medical Center Leadership Preventive Medicine Residency Program.
I live in Yarmouth Maine where we have created the Yarmouth Community Coronavirus Task Force to respond as a functional local public health unit to the COVID-19 outbreak. Check us out on Facebook.
